A water level monitoring system is an innovative way to avoid water flow and stop wastage of water. In this system, a container is used which has ultrasonic sensors placed over them to detect the level of liquid in the container and compare it with the depth of the container. In this system, an AVR family microcontroller, LCD screen, Raspberry Pi, Wi-Fi modem for sending data, and a buzzer are used. A transformer with 12 V of power supply is used in this system. The level of water in the container is displayed on the LCD screen. The level of water in the container is shown in color to the user with the help of a web page. When the set limit of the water level crosses, the buzzer starts ringing. Thus this is a great system that is used to prevent wastage of water by informing the user regarding the level of water in the container. Waterapp is a Water Management App that teaches several ways to avoid wastage of water.
Given below are some of the steps to install a wireless water level monitoring system for the home:
There is a Sensor cable in the water level monitoring system, it must be plugged into the Tank Unit. The connector thumb lock must be turned clockwise until it firmly clicks into the locked position. The connector must be locked properly as it is required for weather proofing. Now the display unit of the Residential Water Level Sensor must be given electricity supply. The Display unit power adapter needs to be plugged into an AC mains power supply and connected to the cable which is present at the rate of the unit. One must plug the Desktop Display Unit directly into any NZ/AUST/USA/CAN standard power outlet. Wait until the display screen shows “Waiting”. There is a circular push button present at the bottom of the tank unit, it must be pressed until the LED light gets lighted up in green color. When the Green light glows up for 3 seconds, which means that Tank Unit is connected to the system, there will also be an alert sound with a message “Tank Added” displayed on the Display Unit.
Before installation you must notify the system with the height of your water tank. It can be set by going through the menu screen on the Sensor for Water Level. Once you touch the Menu on the main screen, go to the TANK -> SETTINGS -> HEIGHT menu. The Residential Water Level Sensor can take default height of upto 2.4 meters. This can also be customized as per the exact height of the tank through the menu. This will be notified once the tank becomes 100% full.
A wireless water level monitoring system for home is a complete and simple solution to save several litres of water which gets wasted due to our negligence and absence of mind. We switch on the motor and forget to switch it off, due to which the water tank overflows in no time and wastes a lot of water. It helps in continuous monitoring and management of water. The installation of the water level monitoring system is very simple and easy as it comes with all the necessary items and manuals such as a Desktop Touchscreen LCD Display Unit, a Tank Transmitter Unit, and a sensor for water Level. One can refer to the Sensor for Water Level or knowing more about the installation process or can also book installation through the WaterApp.
